Test and DevOps Manager

Our client is an industry leading organisation with a global client base seeking an experienced Test and DevOps Manager to join their Centre of Excellence. The focus is on products and services within the environmental and sustainability sector.  

The Test and DevOps Manager to join our dynamic team to lead the Testing and DevOps operations. This role ensures the successful delivery of high quality software and embedded products through efficient testing processes and robust DevOps practices. 

This role will lead the Test and DevOps team, implement Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and promote a culture of automation and continuous improvement.  

Principal Accountabilities for the Test and DevOps Manager:

Test Management:

  • Lead the Test and DevOps team to develop, document and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans.
  • The role will cover functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Ensure that automated and manual testing processes are integrated into the CI/CD pipelines.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of automated test scripts and frameworks, reducing manual testing efforts.
  • Collaborate with development teams to establish testing requirements, identify potential risks.
  • Implement best practices in testing, including the use of cutting-edge tools and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Define, monitor and report on testing progress, quality metrics and KPIs.

DevOps Management:

  • Lead the DevOps team in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Manage the automation of deployment pipelines, including build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to define and implement DevOps strategies, promoting best practices in CI/CD and infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of environments, with a focus on automation and infrastructure optimisation.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in DevOps and cloud technologies, continuously improving processes and tools. 

Team Management:

  • Hire, train, and mentor team members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge.
  • Manage team workloads, allocate resources effectively, and met deadlines.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and provide regular feedback. 

Qualifications/Experience for the Test and DevOps Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.
  • 7+ years of experience in software testing, DevOps, and/or software development roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management position. 
  • Strong background in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI). 
  • Experience with Infrastructure As Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of software development and testing practices. 
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, including automation, CI/CD, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks effectively.
